COVID-19 Notifications

Beginning June 1, three TBS staffers will return to a Monday through Friday schedule at the State Library to resume digital book circulation duties. Some patrons may start to receive books as early as the following day.

Patrons are advised to begin returning books at this time to resume their personalized circulation cycle on June 1, 2020.

Please contact Reader Advisors at 1 (800) 922-7818 or to place new requests or with questions regarding prior requests.

You will get the voicemail service when you call. Please leave the name of the patron, a good contact phone number with area code. We will get back with you as soon as possible.

Due to current events, we regret to inform you that we are unable to continue circulation tasks related to our digital talking book program at this time. Circulation tasks include receiving or sending books through mail or walk-in service. Staff are available offsite to answer questions that you may have about this development. Please continue to call us at 1-800-922-7818. Someone will be checking messages, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm, with the goal of returning your call by the following business day.

Please do not mail any books back until further notice. You are to keep what you currently have as your personal library for the time being. Our hope is that you will re-read your those items as often as possible, and that they will provide some levity in the coming days.

Staff also welcome the opportunity to transition those who have internet access to BARD, our mobile option. It is easily downloadable to most personal devices. As well, BARD Express can be downloaded to desktop personal computers. Books can then be chosen and accessed almost instantaneously. For those reluctant to explore this option in the past, this is the perfect occasion for us to assist you or someone in your household through the process by phone.

We greatly look forward to again providing full service to you once the South Carolina State Library resumes operations. Until then, please stay safe, keep in touch and enjoy your Talking Books.
