During the months of April and May each year, the South Carolina State Library Talking Book Services Department offers a fine arts creative outlet for blind and visually impaired students in our state. First, Second and Third places are awarded in three age categories. One piece is selected by the State Librarian as Best in Show Award and is permanently displayed in the State Library.
Talking Book Services (TBS) patrons have a summer reading program that is created just for them. The program is divided into four categories, based on age, to encourage everyone to participate. The categories are: Emergent – 0 to 5, Child – 6-11, Youth – 12-17, Adult – 18 and up.
